Sintered Stone Bathroom & Wet Areas
Wet areas punish porous surfaces quietly: a stain that appears months later, a joint that darkens, a sealant that fails. The material choice decides how much maintenance the room asks for.
Why absorption matters here
Sintered stone absorbs under 0.2% water, so soap, shampoo and hard-water minerals stay on the surface instead of entering it. That is the difference between wiping a shower wall and replacing a stained one. Stain resistance is rated Grade 5, and the surface does not need sealing.
Wall panels and shower areas
6 mm and 9 mm panels are the usual specification for walls and shower enclosures. Large formats reduce the number of joints, which is where water and mould gather. Joint positions are planned to the layout so they land on module lines rather than through the middle of a wall.
Vanity tops and counters
12 mm is the common choice for vanity tops, with a mitred edge where a thicker appearance is wanted. Cut-outs for basins are made before delivery, and edge profiles are polished at the fabricator.
Finish choice
Matte finishes hide water marking and soap residue better than bright ones, and read calmer in small rooms. Bright finishes suit darker bathrooms where reflection is part of the lighting design.
Fixing and substrate
Panels are fixed to a flat, stable substrate. The fixing detail, adhesive and movement joints are confirmed with your installer before work starts, particularly around shower trays and niches.
Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers for homeowners and project teams in Indonesia.
Can sintered stone be used inside a shower?
Yes. 6 mm and 9 mm panels are used for shower walls, with joints planned and sealed according to the fixing detail.
Does it need sealing?
No. The surface is non-porous; routine cleaning with a mild detergent is enough.
Is it slippery on a bathroom floor?
Floor use requires a slip-resistant finish and is confirmed per project. Wall and vanity use is the more common specification.
Can I match the bathroom to a kitchen countertop?
Yes. Using the same series across kitchen and bathroom keeps the palette consistent, subject to format availability.
