Sintered Stone for Homeowners

Most homeowners arrive with a photograph of a surface they like. The useful question is whether it still works at three metres wide, next to your cabinetry, with your light.

Where it usually goes

Kitchen islands and worktops, bathroom vanities and shower walls, dining tables, feature walls behind a sofa or bed, and sometimes a whole floor where continuity between rooms matters.

What actually matters

Heat. A pan taken off the hob should not mark the surface. Sintered stone is rated to 1,200°C.

Stains. Turmeric, oil, red wine and citrus are the usual tests. Absorption below 0.2% and Grade 5 stain resistance are why the surface can be wiped rather than scrubbed.

Scale. A pattern that looks subtle on a screen can read as busy across an island. This is the single most common regret, and the reason the gallery keeps full slabs.

Care. Routine cleaning with a soft cloth and mild detergent. No sealing, unlike natural stone.

How to decide without overpaying

Choose the application first, then the thickness, then the pattern. A 12 mm slab with a mitred edge reads as a thick worktop at a lower material cost than a 20 mm slab. Spend the difference on the pattern you actually want rather than on thickness you will not see.

Seeing it before you buy

Shortlist two or three options online, then compare them at the Jakarta gallery. Bring a cabinet door, a floor sample or a photo of the room in daylight; the comparison is more useful with something to measure against.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers for homeowners and project teams in Indonesia.

Is sintered stone worth it over quartz?

It depends on heat exposure and pattern preference. Sintered stone tolerates higher heat and absorbs less; quartz gives more uniform pattern control at a lower price point.

Does it need sealing?

No. The surface is non-porous; routine cleaning is enough.

Can it chip?

Edges are the vulnerable part, as with any stone. Mitred and reinforced edges reduce the risk on worktops.

How do I get a price?

Send dimensions, application, thickness and the colour direction you prefer, and the team will quote against the selected slab.
